acoustically from the parents
- The first 18 months! These are the Golden Years
of learning which any infant cannot missed!
- In UK, of all the total deaf babies, 85 % are congenital
and 15% are acquired.
In USA ( New York Multi-centers
Study -1977)

every 10,000 new born from well-baby nursery care
- 11 deaf babies are detected from every 1,000 births
at a Intensive-care baby nursery

studies, 85 % are from a well baby nursery care.

How to track deafness
early ?
Deafness can be tracked even before it happen. During
the early courtship period, you can sense that deafness
can attack your future baby if your partner has hearing
problem. (Remember 85 % of the deafness is congenital).
We are sorry about that! During ante-natal check-up,
your doctor may warn you that the baby may has a turbulent
delivery and the new born may end-up in the intensive
care units for some medical problems (these babies are
10 times more risky than those in well-baby nursery).
Certain antibiotics or medication either given orally,
injectable or eardrops can be toxic to your baby's sense
organ of hearing. Always remind your doctor about that.
High fever or miseale during childhood can be complicated
with hearing impairment. Ear infection can cause deafness
if infection spreads to the middle ear. If you suspect
your baby has been exposed to the above situation and
doubt about the hearing status, please bring them to
see an ENT specialist. If
your doctor is too busy to answer all your enquiries,
you can always call or e-mail
us. We will help you. Once you suspect your baby had
hearing problem, several objective tests should be done
to confirm the hearing status. If deafness is diagnosed,
the baby should get immediate help as not to delay the
learning process. All babies start to learn
during the first two years of life. Never miss this
only golden years which your baby will never re-experience!
